Texas Tuesday - Brazos Bookstore turns 40!

Happy 40th anniversary (birthday?) to Brazos Bookstore! Y'all are invited to the party: April 4, 6:00 - 9:00 pm, at the store.

In 1974, Karl Kilian opened Brazos Bookstore to "encourage the growth and development of the emerging Houston literary scene with a clear focus on personalized service, community engagement and passionate curation." Brazos has long partnered with Inprint!, the University of Houston Creative Writing Program, the Academy of American Poets, and the Annual Poet and Writer’s Ball. Additionally they collaborate with many of Houston’s cultural organizations, including the American Institute of Architects, Rice University, the Baker Institute, the Houston Public Library, and the Asia Society, to produce and promote their literary events. For the Brazos events calendar click here

Brazos continues to be locally owned by a group of twenty-seven Houstonians who purchased the bookstore when Kilian announced his retirement in 2006. Today the shop is managed by Jeremy Ellis and curated by store buyer Danielle DuBois Dimond

Brazos is located at 2421 Bissonnet Street, Houston, Texas 77005. You can contact them at 713.523.0701. Store hours are 11:00 am - 8:00 pm Monday through Saturday and 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Sunday.
